Adam Krzeszowiec was born in 1987 in Katowice.
He is a laureate of international cello competitions in London, Paris, Hradec Králové, Warsaw, Katowice and Dąbrowa Górnicza, and a semi-finalist of the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, the Geneva International Music Competition and the Mstislav Rostropovich International Cello Competition in Paris.
In 2011 he graduated with distinction from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, where he studied in the class of Professor Paweł Głombik and received the Rector’s Special Prize. He also studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne with Professor Frans Helmerson and at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Brussels under the guidance of Gary Hoffman.
He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in some of Europe’s most renowned concert halls, including Wigmore Hall in London, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Salle Gaveau in Paris and the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow.
He has collaborated with orchestras such as the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR), the Silesian Philharmonic, the Silesian Chamber Orchestra, the Polish Radio Orchestra, the Koszalin Philharmonic, the Zielona Góra Philharmonic, the Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra, the Morphing Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Arcata Stuttgart Kammerorchester, the Orchestre de Chambre de Wallonie, the AUKSO Chamber Orchestra of the City of Tychy, the Bratislava Chamber Orchestra and the Leopolis Chamber Orchestra.
He has been invited to participate in prestigious music festivals in Verbier and Gstaad (Switzerland), where following his solo and chamber performances he received the special prizes “Firmenich Cello Prize” and “Prix Philippe Chaignat.” He also took part in the concert “Mischa Maisky Carte Blanche” at the personal invitation of Maestro Mischa Maisky.
As a chamber musician he has appeared at festivals such as the Seiji Ozawa Academy, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, the Verbier Festival, the Ensemble Festival in Książ and the Podium Festival. Since 2010 he has formed a duo with pianist Anna Gburek, with whom he received a distinction at the First Piano Duo Competition in Warsaw and First Prize at the 11th International Music Competition Premio Città di Padova in Padua (Italy).
He has participated in numerous masterclasses, working with world-renowned cellists including Heinrich Schiff, Miklós Perényi, Gustav Rivinius, David Geringas and Pieter Wispelwey.
He has been a recipient of scholarships from the Polish Minister of Culture, the Mayor of the City of Katowice and the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, as well as a laureate of the “Young Poland” scholarship program of the National Centre for Culture. He has also received an award from the Yamaha Foundation.
He was nominated for the Fryderyk Award 2013 for his recording of Grażyna Bacewicz’s Cello Concerto with Sinfonia Iuventus.
Since 2012 he has served as principal cellist of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice and as an assistant in the Department of String Instruments at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice.
Adam performs on an eighteenth-century instrument by Rafaele Gagliano, owned by the Association of Polish Violin Makers.
